2021 FOLKLOREADA
Our October 3, 2021 FOLKLOREADA outdoor community festival brought together some of your favorite folklórico groups for a Sunday afternoon of traditional Mexican dance and music. Admission was free. No tickets were necessary. This event was suitable for all ages. We encouraged fans, friends, and families to walk to the Plaza and spend time enjoying the entertainment in a safe, outdoor experience. Masks were worn at all times for the safety of all our guests.
Plaza gates opened at 12pm and the festival started shortly afterwards. Los Lupeños Juvenil, Esperanza del Valle, Grupo Folklórico Viva Mi Tierra, Grupo Folklórico Luna y Sol de SJSU, Ballet Folklórico México Vivo, Mariachi Estelar, Grupo Folklórico Los Laureles Juvenil, DíaPaSón, Folklórico Latino de Woodland, and your host groups, Los Lupeños de San José and Los Lupeños Juvenil entertained an appreciative crowd. Our 2021 FOLKLOREADA was possible due to the generosity of our sponsors, many personal donations, and the collaboration of our team of volunteers. In particular, we would like to thank:
School of Arts and Culture @MHP
The nonprofit School of Arts and Culture (stewards of the Mexican Heritage Plaza in East San José) partners with nonprofit arts organizations like ours to bring cultural, educational, and entertaining events to the community. During the pandemic the Plaza was a hub for COVID testing and vaccinations as well as other services such as food distribution to those in need.
